I am currently living in New South Wales, Australia with my loving partner Jason and our three chihuahuas, Pebbles, Gucci and Chanel. I grew up in Western Sydney with my hardworking parents and my younger sister who I’m very close with. In 2012, I resigned from my fulltime job as a Store Manager at Guess, Liverpool and I moved to Shellharbour where I assisted my partner in establishing and developing his business. With the support of my partner, family and friends, I officially started my own business in Makeup Artistry in 2015. Since then I have been able to continue assisting my partner whilst building my client base and marketing my own brand.
However, the journey to where I am now was by no means perfect. Prior to pursuing my passion for makeup, I had obtained qualifications in Travel and Tourism and worked jobs in Hospitality and Retail. There was a time in my life where I struggled to make ends meet however, I strived to overcome these obstacles. There were countless times where I was on the verge of just giving up, but now I reflect on those moments and realize that they have shaped me into the person I am now.
In 2014, I became an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. I use their skincare range religiously til this day. I’ve had bad skin (acne) all my life and this brand is the only brand that works for my skin type (oily). I would attend their seminars on a weekly basis to learn how to use their products correctly and how to apply makeup – this is when I knew I wanted to become a Makeup Artist, I was so eager to learn more so I enrolled at TAFE Illawarra West Wollongong Campus completing the Tafe Plus Statement in Beauty & Makeup Application.
It doesn’t end there, I completed my Fashion, Glamour and Bridal Certificate attending the Napoleon Perdis Academy at Alexandria and my Advanced Certificate at Parramatta. Months later, I went to Melissa Sassine’s Academy to complete a 3 Day Work shop with Melissa herself and a highly renowned Makeup Artist from L.A “Jadey Wadey” I learnt so much in just three days – this changed my style of application. In 2015, Kirsten Sangiuliano asked me if I was interested to do makeup in the salon she worked at. I was extremely fortunate and thankful to be given this opportunity to work at Billy & Vince Stockland Shellharbour where I have been able to build my clientele.
Sometimes we may think it’s the joyful and prosperous circumstances that fulfil us, but I have learnt that we are not truly strong until we have truly failed. Remaining at the top is indeed challenging, but getting to the top from rock bottom is what I have found to be the most rewarding. In saying that, I can’t yet say that I am where I want to be, but I am humbled and grateful to know that I am on the right path to achieving my ambitions.
